Task:
To write a new literary description of your 'Wish-come-true bike'.
You can use some of the words from the model but most of your description should use original and different words.
For your 'Wish-come-true bike' literary description to be chosen to represent your class in the Illawarra South East Regional ‘Super Simile’ Competition, you will need to elaborate on the details and features.
To prepare for your description follow these steps.
1. Create 'Wish-come-true bike' using the Dream Machine Learning Object.
2. Take a screen shot of your 'Wish-come-true bike' without any labels
3. Cut and paste the screen shot of 'Wish-come-true bike' into an appropriate computer software program eg
word document or web page, PowerPoint, other.
This needs to be emailed for entry.
4. Make a plan for your description by
a. Writing at least six descriptive labels for your 'Wish-come-true bike' that describe the special properties and their specific purpose
b. Labels should be noun groups with at least one original, effective adjective in each
c. At least two labels should be similes eg 'like a delicate dragon fly'
d. Add at least three strong verbs that describe the action of some of the parts of your 'Wish-come-true bike'
5. In your labels, colour the adjectives in red to identify them.
6. In your labels, colour your similes in blue to identify them.

2. Begin with an introduction that describes what the whole bike is like and where it can travel.
3. Describe each feature of your 'Wish-come-true bike' – give details of what each feature looks like and what it can do.
4. Include the details from the labels in your description.
5. Join the information together in complex sentences using a variety of methods.
6. Reread and edit your description in preparation for publishing.
7. Check spelling, punctuation, sentence structure and that you have completed 1 to 6 on this list.

All entries must be received by 21st September, 2007.
All entries will be published on a secure website and available
to all
Illawarra & South East Regional Staff and Students.
Winner will be announced on Monday 15th October, 2007.
Entries from NSW DET Illawarra South East Regional Schools will be
accepted.
Open to all Illawarra South East Regional School stage 3 students.
One student entry for each stage 3 class will be accepted.
One student entry per class must be sent from Class Teacher's NSW
DET education email account.

Student Details: Name, DET User Name, Year
Please ensure that all students entering have parental permission.

by all staff and students in the Illawarra South East Region.
